Environmental Maori Planning Fieldtrip to Pikitu Marae

Kia ora whanau,
I just wanted to encourage you all to still come on Sunday if you can make it even though the marae meeting is closed. It would be great the more whanau we had for the visit by the Maori Planning Class from the University. The class will introduce their kaupapa and then it would be great if we could all have a korero about the environmental issues that we are facing as Ngati Huri and what our priorities and concerns are about. This will follow from the first Environmental Management Plan workshop that we held sometime ago and I will go over that before we start our korero. The class will be there to listen and take notes about our korero so that they can go away and do some research on our behalf and hopefully Ngati Huri will be presented with some useful report regarding environmental management for our hapu.
So please please come along, the more of you there are the more rich our korero will be.
You are also welcome to come on the hikoi around the hapu with us, again the more of you there are the more korero about these sites we will have to share.
I look forward to seeing you all on Saturday for the website launch and Sunday for this visit.

Environmental Management Plan Workshop

The morning will involve a presentation about Raukawa wide Environmental Issues and an introduction to the planning cycle for the EMP. We will then move on to a workshop to define our purpose and create our vision statement for our EMP. We need as many of the whanau there to do this as we want the EMP to be representative of Ngati Huri's aspirations for our environment.
The workshop will be interactive (so no sitting on your nono's) and will involve lots of korero (and no doubt laughs) about our role as Kaitiaki for our rohe.
Hope to see you all there. Please let me know if there is anything specific you would like us to cover on Saturday.

EMP Workshop #2 Rediscovering our Rohe

Note: just to let you know that we have made a change (yes another one) to the next EMP hui and it has been changed back to Sunday 1st of August to align with the rescheduling of the economic development hui that same weekend. This will save whanau having to come back to Pikitu two weekends in a row. Sorry to change it yet again but hopefully more of the whanau are available on that weekend.
A report will be uploaded onto the website soon.
This workshop will involve site visits to a number of significant sites in our rohe so that we can get our heads into the right space and be more familiar with our taonga when we come to writing our policies and objectives for the EMP.
1st August 2010 At Pikitu - Come along for Lunch and then we will leave Pik at 1pm. Bring: Some warm clothes & your gumboots and any korero you have abour our environment in Ngati Huri. If you have any sites you want to visit in particular let me know.
